LETTERPRESS ARTIST BOOK
During Spring, 2019 I took a letterpress class at MSU, where I grew an appreciation for where graphic design came from. I got my hands dirty and was able to experiment with different techniques throughout the semester. The collaborative artist book was our final project for the class. Our teacher had connected with a design school in Berlin and we were partnered with a student over there to create an artist book that spoke to the idea of cultural differences. To speak to this idea I came up with "Shifts", which comments on cultural differences by simplifying them into shapes and colors offsetting each other. The poem below explains this in more detail. I printed all of the covers, and the blue shapes throughout the book, and my partner printed the red shapes as part of the collaboration process. We then sent each other our prints to complete the offsetting of shapes.
