Brooch project
This design originated from a sketch of a fist that I drew. I had the opportunity to turn this sketch into a brooch made of sheet metal cut with a hand saw for a project in my metals class that I took spring 2019. The fist has graphic qualities such as a focal point and use of positive and negative space between the top and bottom sheets of metal. I envisioned this brooch to be a piece about women empowerment and used a red nail to help communicate this. It is also a conversation piece as a symbol of equal rights and empowerment, and can be worn by activists.
